Facility to support 400ktpa organosilicon project which began operation in March
Liaocheng, China – Luxi Chemical Group has proposed a 100 kilotonnes-per-annum (ktpa) deep-processing project for silicone linear polymers at its existing site in the Liaocheng high-tech industrial development zone chemical park.
According to the company’s first environmental impact assessment (EIA) notice issued 15 Sept, the project will include two production units – one for hydroxyl condensation polymers and another for polydimethylsiloxane – each with an annual capacity of 50ktpa.
Supporting infrastructure will include a tank farm, heat-transfer oil station, loading platform, an automated filling workshop, power distribution and control rooms, an initial rainwater collection pool and an emergency accident pool.
The EIA describes the facility as a ‘downstream supporting project’ for the site’s 400 ktpa organosilicon plant, which was commissioned in March.
The Yuan3.2 billion (€400 million) organosilicon unit is the first phase of a major 1-million-tonne-per-annum organosilicon project, unveiled in 2022.
With the new deep-processing units, Luxi expects the Liaocheng complex to operate a more complete industrial chain from silicone monomers through intermediates to higher-value polymer and rubber products.
