Tokai completes acquisition of Bridgestone carbon black plant in Thailand

Changes entity’s name to Thai Tokai Carbon Product Rojana, appoints new boss
Rayong, Thailand – Tokai Carbon has completed the previously announced acquisition of Bridgestone Carbon Black (Thailand) Co. Ltd for a value of TBH2,050 billion (€54 million). (ERJ report)
In a 30 Sept notice, Tokai Carbon said it finalised the acquisition, initially announced in July, and changed the business’ name on the same day to Thai Tokai Carbon Product Rojana Co.
Furthermore, Tokai has appointed board member Tatsuhiko Yamazaki as the director of the newly acquired Thai subsidiary.
As previously reported by ERJ, the facility has a nameplate capacity to produce 40 kilotonnes per annum of carbon black.
In addition to the facility, Tokai currently operates a 180ktpa carbon black plant in Thailand and is constructing a new facility in the country (ERJ report), to which it'll relocate existing production next year.
Tokai has been operational in Thailand since 1989 and manufactures carbon black for tire and rubber reinforcement.
According to the group, the Thai operateions, led by Thai Tokai Carbon Product Co. (TCP), has “the greatest production capacity of any single factory” in the group.
Tokai has previously announced that it expects carbon black demand in Thailand to “enjoy strong growth” on the back of the country’s tire and automotive sectors.
