Thermolast R series designed for durability, comfort and outdoor use
Waldkraiburg, Germany - Kraiburg TPE has introduced a new range of sustainable Thermolast R thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) developed for e-bike handle applications.
Produced in a consistent black finish and with 15–40% recycled content, the RC/UV/AP series offers a 'soft-touch, non-sticky surface' that improves grip and control, even with sweaty hands.
The material is designed to support "ergonomic hand and wrist positioning while maintaining safety," said Kraiburg 23 Sept.
The compounds cover a hardness range of 50–90 Shore A and feature low density to help reduce overall bike weight.
Formulated for long-term outdoor use, the materials provide UV, chemical and weather resistance, according to the company.
Kraiburg said the TPEs also show strong adhesion to polypropylene for multi-component moulding and withstand temperatures up to 90°C, as proven in a two-year Florida exposure test.
