Company highlights “optimum barrier performance and low air permeability” properties
Paris – Imerys has launched what it says is the "first circular kaolin" certified under the ISCC+* sustainability scheme, developed for use in tire inner liner applications.
Polwhite Loop can deliver “optimum barrier performance and low air permeability,” while maintaining high levels of material handling and flowability, said Imerys in a 23 Sept statement.
The product is developed with "a pioneer circular kaolin, which can provide a game-changing offer to the tire industry,” said Annelies Verwee, sales director for the automotive market without providing further details.
The kaolin, available in dry spray form, shows a 35% reduction in oxygen loss compared to a standard carbon black–filled inner liner – matching the performance of a non-circular kaolin.
According to Imerys's website, the product offers “excellent material handling and flowability.”
Imerys supplies mineral-based speciality solutions to industries including energy transition, construction, polymers and consumer goods.
* ISCC+ is a global certification system that verifies sustainability attributes of alternative feedstocks across the full supply chain.
