Leader Rubber now features ‘upgraded equipment, optimised processes’
Johannesburg, South Africa – Italian retreading specialist Marangoni Group has reopened its retreading factory in Johannesburg following a “severe fire” at the end of 2024.
In a social media post earlier this month, Marangoni said its subsidiary Leader Rubber Co. incurred "major damage" within its mixing facility after the fire.
Despite the damage, operations at the site never stopped, and the factory is now “back to full production.”
The rebuilt facility now features “upgraded equipment, optimised processes, and improved efficiency,” enabling Leader Rubber to support the retreading industry in South Africa and countries of the region.
Leader Rubber supplies and manufactures precured tread as well as consumables, required for tire retreading processes.
Marangoni Group acquired the majority shareholding in Leader Rubber in 2019.
