Lubritape-E launched as “sustainable alternative to PTFE film”
Paris – Hutchinson has introduced a PFAS-free coating designed for sealing pads used in multi-way rotary valves.
Lubritape-E developed by the French group’s ‘precision sealing systems’ unit is in response to “tightening environmental regulations on fluorinated chemicals,” Hutchinson reported 19 Sept.
The transparent film, applied to rubber parts, is intended as a direct replacement for conventional PTFE solutions.
According to Hutchinson, it delivers ‘comparable performance, offering low friction, abrasion resistance and durability in demanding operating conditions.’
The product is aimed at thermal management modules and multi-way valves in vehicles, where it supports leak-free operation under high temperature and pressure.
The development of the PFAS-free coating “is part of our industrial transformation strategy driven by the electrification of the automotive market,” explained Antoine Daviau, R&D manager at Saint-Brieuc site, France.
Hutchinson described Lubritape-E as a “sustainable alternative to PTFE film” that can be integrated into automatic processes.
The material is compatible with EPDM rubber and can withstand temperatures from -50°C to +115°C.
