‘People, places, planet’ discussion forum to take place in Birmingham
London – The UK’s Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining (IOM3) is staging a summit 11-12 Nov in Birmingham to discuss issues impacting its industry sectors.
Called M3P3 (Materials, Minerals & Mining for People, Places, Planet) the event is being billed as “two days of connection, insight and practical ideas.”
“We need to correct the widespread view that modern society is dematerialised,” IOM3 chief executive Dr Colin Church said in announcing M3P3 at a press event in London.
Materials “underpin” modern society and the low-carbon transition “fundamentally depends on materials,” Church told the 5 Sept Cadence First Friday Club meeting.
Church went on to note that global competition for materials is intensifying, with material supply-chains increasingly becoming a matter of national security.
“Professionals in materials, minerals & mining are key to addressing these issues,” according to the London-based institute’s leader.
