Deal to strengthen slurry-handling products portfolio expected to close in fourth quarter
Helsinki – Metso has signed an agreement to acquire Q&R Industrial Hoses, a privately owned Australian manufacturer of pinch valve sleeves, rubber hoses and other rubber products and linings.
The move follows Metso’s 2024 acquisition of valve and process control supplier Jindex, and is aimed at expanding the group’s slurry handling portfolio.
Through the acquisition, the Finnish mining industry supplier intends to enhance its “end-to-end slurry handling solutions and services for its customers.”
In a statement 16 Sept, Metso said Q&R was a long-term supplier and manufacturing partner for its rubber parts and the deal will bring “in-house” slurry hoses and pinch valve sleeves production.
“This will improve both our product range and customer service capability throughout the value chain,” said Christian Trulsson, director for valves and hoses at Metso.
“We can offer even more robust and reliable slurry handling solutions tailored to the needs of the mining and minerals sectors.”
The acquisition is expected to close in the fourth quarter of the year. No transaction value has been disclosed, with Metso stating the deal will have no material impact on its financial results.
Metso’s slurry handling offering covers pumps, pipes, hoses, valves and hydrocyclones, alongside parts, optimisation and maintenance services.
The group has expanded its global slurry hose supply chain in recent years, establishing service and manufacturing centres close to major mining markets.
