Phnom Penh – Cambodia has seen a decline in natural rubber (NR) exports as local demand grew sharply in the first eight months of the year.
The country exported 183,910 tonnes of NR during the January-August period, down 12% compared to 209,733 tonnes exported over the same period in 2024.
However, domestic demand for NR latex saw a significant 89% year-on-year increase to 75,523 tonnes during the period, latest data by the country’s general directorate of rubber revealed 11 Sept.
Value-wise, overall revenue remained flat compared to last year at $328 million (€277 million), with local sales contributing roughly $137 million.
