Major 9m tire expansion project in Shandong to bring overall capacity to 22m tires per annum
Shouguang, China – Shandong Haohua Tire Co. has received official approval for its expansion and upgrade project, which will lift overall annual capacity at its Shouguang city plant, in Shandong province, to more than 22 million radial tires.
The Yuan291.5 million (€35 million) investment includes Yuan1.35m earmarked for environmental protection and covers both all-steel and semi-steel production lines, according to documents released by the Weifang Ecology and Environment Bureau on 11 Sept.
For all-steel truck & bus tires, Haohua will upgrade curing technology from steam to nitrogen, replace 120 vulcanisers, retrofit 30 more, and add 118 nitrogen-generation units.
An MES smart system will also be installed to add an extra capacity for the production of 1 million units of TBR tires.
Once completed, the plant will have an overall annual TBR output of 2.8 million tires.
The semi-steel passenger car tire line will see broader equipment renewal and digital upgrades.
The project calls for 13 new moulding machines, three one-step moulding machines, three uniformity testers, and two steel cord cutting machines, along with a new MES system.
This will add 8 million units, bringing total semi-steel output to 20 million tires per year.
