TotalEnergies’ affiliate to provide sustainable resins for application in tire rubber
Brussels - TotalEnergies’ Cray Valley has signed a deal with Continental for the supply of resins made from bio-feedstocks such as used cooking oil.
Under the agreement, the company will supply Conti with Cleartack-branded “pure monomer low molecular weight tackifying resin”, and Ricon-branded liquid polybutadiene resin from its production site in Carling, France.
The ISCC+ certified resins enhance the performance of tires, said Cray Valley in a 9 Sept announcement.
The bio-feedstocks for the resins originally come from vegetable oil or used cooking oil processed at TotalEnergies’ biorefinery in La Mede, France.
Cray Valley will supply the resins to different Continental tire plants in Europe.
The deal supports Cray Valley’s target of supplying more than 30% of its total volume as sustainable resins by 2030.
