To be led by ex-Biesterfeld executive Carsten Harms, new entity will integrate recently acquired Distrupol
Oftringen, Switzerland – Omya Group is set to launch a polymer distribution arm during the K2025 plastic and rubber show, to be held 8-15 October in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Omya Performance Polymer Distribution will integrate the group’s existing polymer distribution network with Distrupol, a European distributor of thermoplastics which Omaya acquired in February.
The company will be led by Carsten Harms, formerly executive board member of German distributor Biesterfeld who was responsible for the group’s plastic and performance rubber divisions.
“By bringing together Distrupol's deep market knowledge with Omya's global infrastructure and polymer operations, we are building a distribution platform focused entirely on empowering customers,” said Harms.
The new business, he said, is being created to provide “tailored solutions” to customers.
Services will include the supply of “an expansive portfolio” of performance polymers as well as technical support such as material selection, design consultation, and application development advice.
Among other products, the portfolio includes elastomers, TPUs, ABS, polyethylene, polypropylene, PBT, acrylic, and acetal.
