But WDK warns relief could be cancelled out by upcoming European supply chain act
Farnkfurt, Germany — The German Rubber Industry Association (WDK) has welcomed the abolition of reporting obligations under Germany’s 'supply chain due diligence' act, approved 3 Sept by the federal cabinet.
However, WDK president Michael Klein warned that the relief would be cancelled out by the coming European supply chain act (CSDDD).
Klein described the situation as a “zero-sum game” and urged Brussels to drop the law to “permanently relieve companies of reporting obligations.”
Under a coalition agreement, the federal government had agreed not only to abolish the reporting obligations of the 'supply chain due diligence' act, but also the entire law," explained the WDK leader.
However, he said, "this law will be replaced by a European law. And this is exactly where the problem lies.”
“German industry is suffering massively from bureaucracy. Neither a partial abolition nor a temporary postponement will help," Klein warned.
The WDK leader also underscored concerns about the German rubber industry losing its competitiveness due to poor business conditions.
Companies, he stressed, urgently need “noticeable relief” from bureaucracy.
