Bekaert to raise steel cord, bead wire prices in North Asia

Costs ‘significantly increased’ due to rising raw materials prices, ‘impact of high temperatures’
Beijing – Bekaert China is increasing the price of its steel cord and bead wire products in North Asia by RMB300/tonne, effective 1 Sept 2025.
The company said the adjustment was due to due to “rising raw material prices and impact of high temperatures,” which it said had significantly increased production costs for steel cord and bead wire and was “seriously threatening our normal operations.”
The price increase, Bekaert said in a 25 Aug statement, was to “ensure a continuous supply of products and maintain sustainable operations.”
The company also said it was ceasing to accept “additional orders for August, effective immediately.”
Bekaert entered the Chinese market with a production base in the 1990s and has invested over €1.5 billion in its operations in the country, according to the company’s website.
The Belgian group has 13 production bases in seven cities in China (Shenyang, Weihai, Jiangyin, Shanghai, Suzhou, Qingdao, Hangzhou), an RD&E centre, a trading company and its Asian headquarters in the country.
