Law brings proposed site into Ponta Grossa urban perimeter for industrial use
Ponta Grossa, Brazil – XBRI Pneus and Linglong have moved forward with a planned tire production facility in Ponta Grossa following the city hall approval of land re-zoning.
In a 28 Aug statement, the Ponta Grossa city hall said it had approved a law that brings land belonging to XBRI Pneus into the city’s urban perimeter.
The change allows industrial use of the plots linked to the tire maker.
According to the council, the inclusion covers a series of land titles and clears a step needed for the project to proceed with the establishment of an industrial complex.
Unveiled in August last year, the XBRI Pneus project in Ponta Grossa was introduced by distributor Sunset Tires Corp. Ltd.
Shandong Linglong Tire joined the project in April this year, lifting the investment to over BRL6.2 billion (€1 billion), up from the BRL1.5 billion first proposed by Sunset. (ERJ report)
The factory will span 1.25 million sq.m. with planned capacity of 12 million passenger car tires, 2.4 million truck and bus tires and 200,000 industrial and agricultural units per year.
The project is to be completed in three phases, construction is set to start in the third quarter of 2025 and full completion scheduled for 2032.
