Still at “planning stage,” Morocco factory intended to improve global layout and ‘production resilience’
Shenzhen, China – Guizhou Tire Co., Ltd has announced plans to build its second overseas factory in Morocco.
In a 26 Aug filing with the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, the Chinese tire maker said the move was aligned with its strategy of "internationalisation, intelligence, green and high-end development."
Still at a “planning stage”, the project builds up on Guizhou’s successful project in Vietnam and will optimise its production capacity layout, said the announcement.
Furthermore, it will enhance Guizhou’s 'production and operational resilience' and risk mitigation capabilities.
Guizhou went on to note that it is currently investigating and evaluating the project's feasibility, and no formal agreement has been signed.
The specific construction content and investment amount of the project have not yet been determined.
Guizhou said it will submit the details of the project once the feasibility study is approved and an investment decision is made.
The project remains subject to certain approvals, and Guizhou cautioned that “policy adjustments, macroeconomic conditions, and market changes” could still affect its implementation.
