USTMA shipments forecast still seen rising from last year despite lower outlook
Washington DC – The US Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) has revised down US total tire shipments for 2025 slightly, now expecting the figure to reach 340.2 million units, down from a March estimate of 340.4 million units.
The revised estimate, however, remains above the record 337.3 million units in 2024 and 332.7 million units posted in 2019.
By category, OE shipments are projected to fall from 2024 levels, with declines of 2.0% for passenger car tires, 1.4% for light truck tires, and 8.0% for truck tires.
This amounts to a total drop of 1.4 million units, said USTMA 7 Aug.
Meanwhile, replacement shipments are expected to grow by just under 1% overall, rising 1.2% for passenger tires, 2.5% for light truck tires, and 3.7% for truck tires. This will represent a total gain of 4.4 million units.
