Arnhem, The Netherlands – A fire occurred at Teijin Aramid's production unit in Delfzijl, The Netherlands on 6 Aug, according to a statement by parent group Teijin Ltd.
The blaze started at around 14:00 local time and was extinguished in two hours with no injuries reported, said Teijin 7 Aug.
The cause of the fire as well as the extent of physical damage and any potential disruption to production remain under investigation.
Headquartered in Arnhem, Teijin Aramid is a producer of high-performance aramid fibres, widely used in tire reinforcement and other industrial applications.
As previously reported by ERJ, the Delfzijl facility produces raw materials for Teijin's Twaron-branded yarn, which can be used as reinforcement for tires and rubber components, among other applications.
In December 2022, Teijin reported a fire at the plant in Delfzijl, which resulted in lower sales volumes and capacity utilisation and an extraordinary loss of €1.3 million.
