Japanese producer cites “extremely tight” supply and strong global demand for CR
Tokyo – Tosoh Corp. is to increase prices for its sulphur-modified ‘Skyprene’ chloroprene rubber grades, effective 19 Sept, the Japanese producer announced 6 Aug.
The revision will add Yen120/kg to the current domestic price and $800/tonne to the export price of the material, Tosoh said.
The company linked the increase to sustained strong global demand for sulphur-modified CR and an “extremely tight” supply-demand balance, which it expects to continue for some time.
Tosoh said it implemented cost-reduction, labour-saving, and logistics-efficiency measures to maintain a stable supply.
However, the Tokyo-based group noted that limited inventory levels have added to supply constraints.
