Japanese tire & rubber group planning to expand system’s use to improve aviation tire management
Tokyo – Cebu Pacific Air has become the first airline to adopt Bridgestone Corp.’s ‘easytrack’ tire management system, aimed at improving efficiency and accuracy in aircraft tire inventory control.
Launched in April, the smartphone based system uses QR codes to manage each aircraft tire from production to return, replacing manual, paper based checks at the airline’s warehouses, MRO facilities and maintenance bases.
Bridgestone said trials at Cebu Pacific showed the system could “reduce the work time required for tire inventory management by about 50%” and deliver “100% accuracy of inventory management data.”
“As we scale operations, it is essential to invest in smart solutions that reduce manual burdens and increase efficiency,” said Shevantha Weerasekera, Cebu Pacific’s VP for engineering and fleet management.
“By partnering with Bridgestone to introduce easytrack, we have significantly improved our tire management process and increased accuracy, safety and productivity.”
Bridgestone’s Shin Tomita, general manager for global aviation tire solutions, said the company had tailored the system to Cebu Pacific’s needs based on on site experience.
Bridgestone said it plans to expand the system’s use to further improve aviation tire management efficiency.
