Chinese group says SR volume growth highest among other synthetic materials listed
Beijing, China – Sinopec produced 804,000 tonnes of synthetic rubber in the first half of 2025, marking an 18.6% increase year-on-year, according to preliminary performance data released on 24 July.
The growth was the strongest among the company's key chemical product segments, outpacing gains in synthetic resin (up 12.8%) and ethylene (up 16.4%), while synthetic fibre output declined 5.1%.
Sinopec is China’s leading SR producer and emerged as the world’s largest producer of synthetic rubber in 2023, with over 1.8 million tonnes of output.
Arlanxeo, PetroChina, Sibur, and Kumho Petrochemical followed Sinopec as the world’s top five producers.
