French group says “will continue to defend its rights” during investigations
Clermont-Ferrand, France – Michelin has welcomed a 9 July ruling by the General Court of the European Union which “partially annulled” the European Commission’s decision relating to raids carried out at a number of tire companies in early 2024.
The Luxembourg-based court found the Commission lacked “serious enough indicia” to justify its investigation for the period before 16 Jan 2019. It annulled the inspection decision in so far as it covered that earlier period.
The raids were part of an investigation into a potential cartel in the tire sector.
In a 17 July statement, Michelin said it had “taken note of the judgment” and did not intend to appeal the decision.
The group, it said, “will continue to defend its rights during the ongoing investigation into the other periods identified by the Commission.”
