Investment gives greater production flexibility, enables SSBR or SBS production as market needs evolve
Houston, Texas – Dynasol Group has added 20 kilotonnes per annum (ktpa) of capacity for the manufacture of solution styrene butadiene rubber (SSBR) production line at its production site in Gajano, Santander, Spain.
The new production line was inaugurated during a visit by the president of Cantabria, Maria Jose Saenz de Buruaga, Dynasol announced on 15 July.
The expansion programme, which also included a 10ktpa increase for its styrene-butadiene copolymer (SBC) line in Altamira, Mexico, was initially announced in 2022.
At the time, Dynasol said the investment would give the group greater production flexibility, enabling it to produce more SSBR or SBS as market needs evolve.
Prior to the new investment, the Santander site had 120ktpa of SBS and SEBS capacity. The Altamira site in Mexico has 110ktpa of SSBR and SBS capacity.
Dynasol said its SSBR and SBC products are used in applications such as plastic modification, adhesives, asphalt modification and industrial goods.
According to the group, demand for the products has risen in segments including EVs, electronics, adhesives for fast-moving consumer goods, asphalt modification and compounding in both the Americas and Europe.
