Event in Surat Thani to improve quality and traceability of rubber
Surat Thani, Thailand – Yokohama Rubber Co. (YRC) has held its ninth seminar for Thai natural rubber farmers as part of efforts to improve product quality and supply chain transparency.
The event took place in June and was organised with the Rubber Authority of Thailand, said YRC 4 July.
Attended by 50 farming households, the sessions covered seedling selection, planting methods, fertiliser application, and measures to avoid contamination.
YRC said it provided fertiliser developed with the Rubber Authority to the farmers free of charge.
The company noted that participants agreed to select sample trees to study the impact of fertiliser use and seasonal changes on rubber properties.
The event is part of a 2020 agreement between YRC and the Rubber Authority to support farmers and improve traceability.
The company said the training is part of its policy on sustainable natural rubber procurement.
