Tire maker not to terminate employment contracts during temporary production halt
Izmit, Turkey - Goodyear has announced plans to temporarily suspend tire production at its facility in Izmit within the framework of its ‘business continuity plan’.
In a 25 June notification to the public disclosure platform KAP, the tire maker said production will be suspended between 15 July and 13 August.
The move, it explained, is aimed at inventory adjustments to be carried out during the one-month period.
The company does not expect to terminate any employment contract due to the suspension and aims to resume production 14 Aug, the notification said.
According to ERJ Global Tire Report 2024, the facility in Izmit produces truck & bus and agricultural tires with a nameplate capacity of 3,000 tonnes per day.
In addition to its plant in Izmit, Goodyear also operates another tire production unit in Adapazari, Turkey, where it manufactures passenger car/light truck, farm and earthmover tires.
