Espoo, Finland - Metso Corp. is to acquire the recycling operations of TL Solutions in order to enhance its mill-lining recycling technology development and customer service capabilities.
Based in Oulu, Finland, TL Solution is a privately owned company which has previously worked with Metso to develop recycling technology.
The investment follows recent Metso initiatives to enhance circularity, including the 2022 introduction of Poly-Met mill-liner recycling services using induction heating.
The acquisition, Metso said 4 July, will strengthen the group’s recycling technology development capabilities based on induction technology.
The move, according to Martin Karlsson, SVP mill lining, will enable Metso to have the ‘unique’ separation technology “in-house.”
The technology enables “safe and efficient” separation of different rubber and metal liner components, like cast inserts, wear plates, and backing plates.
All composite liners, including rubber mill-liners, can be processed using this solution, Metso noted.
“By having complete control over the development and implementation of mill-liner recycling solutions, we can ensure that our services are consistently high-quality, scalable and tailored to the unique needs of each customer,” Karlsson said.
The acquisition is estimated to be finalised in August 2025. The parties have agreed not to disclose the transaction value.
Metso provides recycling services to mining customers throughout Europe and the Nordic region. The company also provides mill-liner recycling services in Chile and is preparing to expand this offering to North America.
