Cefic: Responds to industry calls to “restore the business case for investments in Europe…”
Brussels – Cefic has described the Clean Industrial State Aid Framework (CISAF), published 25 June by the European Commission, as a key milestone in delivering a competitive industrial policy for Europe and enabling the transition to climate neutrality.
In particular, the European chemicals industry body welcomed measures such as electricity-price relief for energy-intensive industries and support for their decarbonisation,
“CISAF is a concrete response to the very clear call made by Europe’s industrial leaders: restore the business case for investments in Europe,” said Cefic.
With many other industries, chemicals makers have been concerned about Europe’s industrial future, not least because energy prices in Europe remain uncompetitive,
According to Cefic, the CISAF is a real step in the right direction and shows that the EC is acting to address issues highlighted by the chemicals industry over recent years.
“For our industry, which supports 1.2 million jobs and is essential to Europe’s transition to climate neutrality, the CISAF offers practical and essential measures,” said Ilham Kadri, president of Cefic and CEO of Syensqo.
“It is a strong signal from the European Commission to the industry. We now urge all Member States for its immediate implementation,” added Kadri.
