Continental’s tire manufacturing plant in Hefei, China, also receives certification
Hanover, Germany – Continental Tires has announced that all its European production sites have been awarded International Sustainability and Carbon Certification Plus (ISCC+) certificaiton.
In addition to the tire plants in Lousado (Portugal), Puchov (Slovakia), Korbach (Germany), and Sarreguemines (France), factories in Otrokovice (Czech Republic) and Timisoara (Romania) are now also certified production sites, said Continental 26 June.
Moreover, Continental's textile plant Industria Textil do Ave (ITA) in Lousado has also been certified. The factory supplies technical textiles and other reinforcing materials for new tire production in Europe.
The ISCC+ certification confirms compliance with specific documentation requirements regarding the use of renewable and recycled raw materials. It also confirms the traceability of the raw materials used in the production process.
In addition to the European sites, Continental’s tire plant in Hefei (China) has also been granted the certification.
The recognition is a ‘milestone’ in Continental’s sustainability strategy, which targets using more than 40% sustainable materials in its tires by the end of the decade.
