Valletta, Malta – Trelleborg Sealing Solutions (TSS) has completed an expansion project at its production facility in Malta, the company has announced.
The €14 million investment saw the addition of 4,000 sq.m. of manufacturing space, cleanrooms & equipment to support the production of medical and semiconductor sealing solutions, said TSS 24 June.
Located in Hal Far and Marsa, the expanded facility also includes a 2,000 sq.m. space for offices, laboratories and support functions.
Two new “cutting-edge” clean room facilities have been introduced to produce braised silicone extrusions for biopharmaceutical applications and "advanced sealing and damping solutions" for semiconductor manufacturing.
“The investment… enhances our capabilities in the fast-growing life sciences and semiconductor manufacturing industries,” said Peter Nilsson, President and CEO, Trelleborg Group.
Established in 1961, the plant currently employs 500 employees, said Trelleborg, adding that the workforce is expected to increase to 600 to meet “new business demands.”
