Machine designed for radial tires with 20-inch rim diameter, can produce 430 tires per day
Omsk, Russia – JSC Cordiant has launched an upgraded tire building machine at its Omskshina plant, as part of an ongoing investment programme to modernise production facilities in Yaroslavl and Omsk.
Installed in the assembly and vulcanisation shop, the machine is designed for assembling radial tires with a 20-inch rim diameter and a profile width of 9 to 12 inches, Cordiant announced 28 May.
The equipment can produce up to 430 tires per day and, according to the Russian tire maker, "meets production standards and reduces the risk of metal cord breaker distortion."
The machine underwent “a deep modernisation” by Omsk-based engineering firm Polikon, which has been cooperating with the plant for over 30 years, said Cordiant general director Vadim Volodin.
Cordiant also noted the importance of domestic suppliers in the modernisation effort, adding that moulds for vulcanisation equipment used to produce “in-demand tire sizes” are being upgraded in-house by its Technotair repair centre.
Cordiant operates five production sites in Russia, including two in Omsk.
Passenger car tires under the Cordiant and Tunga brands are produced at the Cordiant-Vostok plant, while the Omskshina factory manufactures Omskshina and Tyrex CRG brand tires.
Combined annual capacity at the two Omsk plants is over 5.3 million tires.
