Urges supportive framework for circular and bio-based materials and innovation that reduces reliance on imports
Brussels – The European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers Association (ETRMA) has provided comments on the European Commission’s update of the EU Bioeconomy Strategy, the Brussels-based industry body announced 18 June.
As a key user of bio-based materials, it said, the EU tyre industry encourages the European Commission to acknowledge the sector’s contribution to advancing bio-based solutions in the updated Bioeconomy Strategy.
ETRMA also highlighted the importance of a supportive regulatory framework for circular and bio-based materials, as well as continuous support for innovation that reduces reliance on imported raw materials.
In updating the EU Bioeconomy Strategy, the association went on to urge the Commission to consider: Support for the European tire manufacturers’ rubber strategy; clarifying rules for circular raw materials; and securing sustainable and resilient biomass supply.
