Swiss group to close Ohio facility, transfer operations to two existing sites
Altdorf, Switzerland – Datwyler is streamlining its US production network with plans to close down a facility in Ohio and transfer activities to two other sites in the country.
The Swiss elastomer engineering group will cease production at its facility in Vadalia, Ohio by end of September and move the operations to Ontario, California and Twinsburg, Ohio, Datwyler told ERJ 11 June.
According to the company statement, the Vandalia site combines manufacturing and distribution activities for the two Datwyler businesses units ‘mobility and general industry.’
These activities, including the corresponding machines and facilities, will be transferred to the two existing Datwyler sites.
Presently Datwyler manufactures elastomer components for general industries, e.g. for the US oil and gas sector, in Ontario.
The site in Twinsburg manufacturers products for the mobility segment, including seals for electrical connectors for the automotive and other industries.
According to Datwyler, the closure will impact 70 employees at Vandalia while “a few roles” will be retained within the company.
The move is part of the ‘Forward Now’ transformation programme introduced by the Swiss group in late 2024. (ERJ report)
The initiative focuses on four key areas: production network optimisation, commercial excellence, portfolio streamlining, and establishing “a future-ready operating model”.
