Agreement outlines exclusive licensing framework for end-of-life tire conversion process
Houston, Texas – Lummus Technology and InnoVent Renewables have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to pursue the global licensing and deployment of InnoVent’s continuous tire pyrolysis technology, the companies announced 3 June.
Under the MoU, Lummus would serve as the exclusive licensor of InnoVent’s proprietary process, which converts end-of-life tires (ELTs) into pyrolysis oil, gas, recycled carbon black, and steel.
Lummus would also license integrated technology packages that combine the pyrolysis process with its own downstream technologies to enhance the value of recovered fuel and chemical products.
"Partnering with Lummus has the potential to accelerate the global deployment of our technology and help us address the environmental and public health challenges of 1 billion ELTs that are disposed of annually," said Vibhu Sharma, CEO InnoVent.
For Lummus, the move will 'expand and strengthen' the company's portfolio for the circular economy,” said president and CEO Leon de Bruyn.
The collaboration, he added, will “address the global challenge of waste tires and create new pathways for sustainable product development."
InnoVent currently operates a commercial facility in Monterrey, Mexico, with the capacity to process up to one million passenger tires annually.
The plant includes pre-processing and purification capabilities, with potential for expansion.
