Multi-year agreement with sealing systems manufacturer valued at over €9m
Stockholm – Waste tire pyrolysis joint venture Infiniteria has signed additional multi-year delivery agreements for recovered carbon black (rCB) from its Uddevalla recycling plant, effectively filling 100% of the site's rCB production capacity ahead of its commissioning.
The agreement, valued at SEK100 million (€9.2 million) over its term, was signed with “a global manufacturer of technologically high-quality sealing systems and rubber components,” said JV partner and technology supplier Enviro 30 May.
The customer intends to use the rCB as a raw material in its production processes.
“With this agreement, the upcoming production in Uddevalla 1 is considered fully booked for both recovered carbon black and pyrolysis oil,” said Fredrik Emilson, CEO of Enviro.
Infiniteria is a joint venture between Enviro, Antin Infrastructure Partners, and supported by Michelin.
According to Enviro, the rubber manufacturer involved has previously sourced and validated material from Enviro’s existing facility in Asensbruk.
The Uddevalla facility, currently under construction, is the first full-scale tire recycling plant based on Enviro's pyrolysis technology.
“The pressure to secure volume from Uddevalla has continued to be very high... and the initial idea was to maintain spare capacity to qualify new customers,” said Stefano Madeddu, Infiniteria’s CEO.
The company, he added, has decided to “release the remaining volume to a leading rubber manufacturer with significant potential for rCB.”
He did not provide further details about the rCB buyers or the offtake volumes.
The company is also holding talks with customers regarding additional volumes from "upcoming facilities", which are still under development and awaiting final investment decision.
According to Enviro, Uddevalla 1 is expected to become operational by the end of 2025 and to reach provisional acceptance certificate (PAC) status by mid-2026.
The plant will initially have the capacity to recycle around 34.5 kilotonnes per annum (ktpa) of end-of-life tires, with plans to double capacity to 70ktpa tonnes once PAC is achieved.
As of February 2024, when construction began on the Uddevalla site, Infiniteria had secured SEK2 billion in off-take agreements for recycled materials, covering terms of 5 to 10 years.
