Move aligned with globalisation strategy, following investment agreement in Saudi Arabia late last year
Guangrao, China – China’s Shandong Yongsheng Rubber Group has announced plans to build a tire manufacturing plant in Morocco to become the second Chinese manufacturer with a production base in the country.
In a 28 May filing, the group said the planned facility will have the capacity to produce 6 million units of semi-steel radial passenger car tires per year.
The filing did not provide further details about the timeline of the project or the investment amount.
With the investment, Shandong Yongsheng will be the second Chinese tire maker with a manufacturing plant in Morocco, in addition to Qingdao Sentury Tire which started production at its tire plant in Tangier late last year. (ERJ report)
Shandong Yongsheng's decision follows another recent investment announcement in Saudi Arabia, as reported by Saudi Silk Road Industrial Services Co. last year.
In late December 2024, the Chinese group signed a ‘conditional investment agreement’ with the Saudi Arabi’as Jazan authorities as part of a China-Saudi joint venture led by Guangzhou High-Tech Investment Group Co.
The agreement envisions that Shandong Yongsheng Rubber Group Co. Ltd. will officially participate in the “Saudi Arabia tire project” and establish itself in the China-Saudi Arabia Jazan Industrial Zone.
The report by Saudi Silk Road did not provide further details.
