Local court in Shenzhen rules in favour of Zeon in lawsuit against Shenzhen Haodyne Technology
Tokyo – Zeon Corp. has won a court case in China over the infringement of its intellectual property rights by Shenzhen Haodyne Technology Co., a Chinese-based manufacturer of battery materials.
The 7 May judgement by the Intermediate People’s Court of Shenzhen City “fully accepted” Zeon’s claim that Shenzhen Haodyne “had illegally obtained and used trade secrets related to Zeon’s lithium?ion battery binders.”
The court has issued an injunction against further infringement of the disputed trade secrets and ordered Shenzhen Haodyne and its chairman Ken Oh to pay Yuan1 million (€123,000) in damages to Zeon.
Zeon went on to stress that “it will continue to take firm action against any infringement of its intellectual property rights.”
As previously reported by ERJ, Zeon has been supplying binder materials for batteries since 1995 and has developed its flagship aqueous SBR binders for negative electrodes.
The Japanese group holds a broad intellectual property portfolio related to Li-ion batteries.
