Order accounts for 100% of annual of production of plant in Åsensbruk, Sweden
Stockholm - Scandinavian Enviro Systems (Enviro) has renewed a supply agreement for waste tire pyrolysis oil (TPO) from its end-of-life tire (ELT) recycling facility in Asensbruk, Sweden.
The order with the undisclosed “leading American oil company” accounts for 100% of the annual production of 750 tonnes of TPO at the plant, said Enviro 28 May.
The ISCC EU certified oil will be used by the oil company for the production of biofuels.
According to Enviro, the oil company has expressed demand for “substantially larger volumes” of TPO.
The US-based company conducted production tests of Enviro's pyrolysis oil in 2022 and has since received continuous deliveries of oil from Asensbruk, said the Enviro statement.
The order shows the “enormous interest” in, and the quality of Enviro’s recycled raw materials, said CEO Fredrik Emilson.
While the deal concerns TPO produced at the Asensbruk facility, Emilson said all production from Enviro’s still-under-construction facility in Uddevalla, Sweden, has also been “sold-out” through off-take agreements.
Emilson linked the ‘very high’ demand for the oil to its “significant environmental benefits”.
Biofuels produced from ISCC certified TPO can be mass balanced as 100% renewable, he added.
Furthermore, recovered carbon black produced using the Enviro technology has “more than 90% lower carbon footprint than virgin carbon black,” according to the Enviro CEO.
Enviro is currently building an industrial-scale ELT pyrolysis plant in Uddevalla, under the Infiniteria joint venture partnership with Michelin and Anti Infrastructure.
According to Enviro, the JV has already signed binding long-term supply agreements worth SEK2 billion (€185 million) with leading tire manufacturers and oil companies.
