First quarter sales and production fell by 2.5% year-on-year, according to latest WDK survey
Frankfurt, Germany – The German rubber industry has called for swift political action to support growth after reporting a drop in sales and production during the first quarter of 2025.
According to the German Rubber Industry Association (WDK), member companies saw sales fall 2.7% year-on-year between January and March.
Production declined by 2.5%, while domestic sales were also down 2%, said WDK president Michael Klein without providing details.
“These figures show that our industry urgently needs a boost,” said Klein 23 May, citing the data from the group’s most recent member survey.
Klein urged the federal government to act quickly now that the Bundestag committees are in place.
“Now that parliament is fully operational, the government should promptly introduce a legislation to promote growth and safegaurd Germany as a location,” he said.
The WDK welcomed "the promises of a reduction in bureaucracy and lower energy prices" but warned that plans must be implemented without delay.
