Two partners to conduct first tire recycling joint project in Victoria, Australia
Houston, Texas – Klean Industries and KBR have signed a 'heads of terms' agreement to jointly develop and license projects to recover valuable materials, such as recovered carbon black (rCB) and tire pyrolysis oil, from end-of-life tires (ELTs).
The two companies will collaborate, on an exclusive basis, to design, license, and deliver integrated tire recycling systems using Klean’s pyrolysis technology.
The first joint project is planned for Victoria, Australia, said Vancouver, British Columbia-based Klean 6 May without providing further detail.
According to the agreement, Klean will provide its technical expertise in tire pyrolysis, while KBR will contribute engineering, project delivery, and modularisation capabilities.
Combining the ELT pyrolysis technology with KBR’s deployment and engineering expertise will accelerate Klean's ability to deliver advanced manufacturing facilities, said Jesse Klinkhamer, CEO of Klean Industries.
The move will also enable Klean to increase its global installed capacity and produce larger volumes of sustainable commodities from ELTs, he added.
The partnership "represents a significant opportunity to support a fully circular tire industry and positions Klean’s technology portfolio for the exponential growth expected from the global energy transition,” Klinkhamer concluded.
