India’s Steer World claims “breakthroughs” for rubber, pigment processing

Bengaluru, India – Indian materials engineering firm Steer World has developed new inline compounding technologies for rubber and wet pigment applications, including a method to directly process rubber bales into pellets using twin-screw extrusion.

The "game-changing" rubber compounding system eliminates batch inconsistencies while reducing energy use and speeding up production, said Steer 6 May.

By bypassing traditional batch processing, the system allows for continuous production with improved uniformity and shorter time-to-market, the Bengaluru-based supplier of polymer extrusion and compounding systems said.

In pigment processing, the company has introduced an inline wet pigment compounding method that enables direct dispersion of pigments into polymers.

The process removes the need for intermediate drying and filtering steps, according to Steer.

The technology is claimed to deliver up to 20% faster dispersion and mixing, up to 15% higher colour strength, and minimum 15% cost savings over traditional dry pigment methods.

Steer is presented the technologies at PlastAsia 2025 in Bengaluru 9-12 May.

The company also launched the iSeries of extrusion systems, designed for standardised applications with an emphasis on precision, cost control and process efficiency.
