US group cites ‘higher cost of product movement and inventory positioning’ among reasons for price hike
Dallas, Texas – Celanese Corp. is increasing prices for a number of engineered polymers, including elastomer products, effective 1 June.
As part of the move, Santoprene-branded thermoplastic vulcanisates (TPVs) will see price hikes of $0.20/kg in Asia and the Americas, and $0.18 in EMEA.
Halogenated flame-retardant Santoprene products will incur price increases of $1.25/kg in Asia and the Americas, and $1.10/kg in EMEA.
Prices for Hytrel-, Neolast- and Beyloy-branded thermoplastic polyester elastomers will increase by $0.40/kg in Asia, $0.30/kg in the Americas and $0.10/kg in EMEA.
In a 5 May statement, the Texas-based group said it was actively managing its global and regional operations amid the volatile conditions of global trade.
The price increases, it said, reflect rising costs associated with product movement, inventory repositioning, plant operations, evolving trade regulations, and raw materials.
