Vienna-based group completes sale of remaining production and packaging business to Harps Global
Vienna – Semperit has exited the medical rubber gloves business with the completion of the sale of its remaining operations to southeast Asian gloves manufacturer Harps Global Pte. Ltd.
Semperit sold the majority of its ‘Sempermed’ business to Harps in late 2022 with the provision to sell its surgical gloves in Wimpassing, Austria and other packaging operations in Sopron, Hungary within five years. (ERJ report)
The remaining operations have since been providing contract manufacturing services to Harps.
In a statement 1 July, Semperit said it had now ‘placed the remaining part in the hands of the new, responsible owner early and terminated the contract manufacturing.”
With the exit from the glove business, the group will be “concentrating 100%” on implementing its growth strategy focused on “elastomer products for industry,” said Semperit’s CEO Karl Haider.
The second and final closing of the sale of the medical business took place with effect from 30 June, at a value of €7 million, according to Semperit.
