Announces strategic collaboration with Milan-based tire maker to “transform global manufacturing processes”
Milan, Italy – Rockwell Automation has inked a ‘multi-year' deal to enhance the digitalisation strategy of Milan-based commercial tire maker Prometeon Tyre Group (PTG).
The collaboration, announced 28 Feb, aims to increase “manufacturing efficiency, sustainability and technological advancement” at PTG facilities in Italy, Turkey, Egypt and Brazil.
Rockwell said it will implement its manufacturing execution system (MES) to support “comprehensive digital integration across all Prometeon Tyre Group's global facilities.”
The project aims to replace the current systems and create “a standardised, technologically advanced environment,” noted the automation vendor.
PTG, it added, will benefit from: enhanced operational efficiency; improved labour utilisation; increased productivity & effectiveness; and reduced costs in areas of quality and compliance.
To deliver these goals, Rockwell will provide “industry-specific templates” using its FactoryTalk ProductionCentre MES platform, along with IIoT and other advanced control and management-system capabilities.
The new operational systems will provide “comprehensive production operations management solution, allowing seamless connection to enterprise platforms”, according to the supplier.
The enhanced digitalisation approach, it added, entails a shift in operational dynamics, moving towards a more streamlined connected system for global sites.
The two companies “have arrived at digital solutions that are designed to be both standardised and maintainable" across PTG's global operations, said Dan Paul, global business director, tire industry, Rockwell Automation.
"Drawing from our experience of working with other international tire brands, we can provide a holistic, flexible approach to digital transformation..." Paul also commented.
