Trelleborg acquiring US aerospace parts maker

Trelleborg, Sweden – Trelleborg Group is acquiring a US-based aerospace parts manufacturing operation through its business area Trelleborg Sealing Solutions (TSS).

The unit is part of privately owned 4M Co. Inc. and specialises in sealing solutions for aerospace and industrial applications, said Trelleborg 22 March.

The group’s head office and manufacturing are located in Tukwila, Washington, with annual sales of SEK85 million (€7.6 million).

The bolt-on acquisition is part of Trelleborg’s strategy to strengthen its positions in “attractive industries.”

“We are experiencing strong demand for aerospace seals with a continued positive trend for several years to come,” said Peter Hahn, president of TSS.

The acquisition, he went on to say, means TSS can increase its capacity to produce elastomers used in various aerospace seals.

It also enables the Swedish group to broaden its product range, for instance by adding conductive seals.

The transaction is expected to be finalised in the second quarter of 2023.
