China’s Zhejiang Petrochemical starts up 60ktpa rubber plant

Zhejiang, China – Zhejiang Petrochemical Co., part of the larger Rongsheng Petrochemical group, has commissioned a solution styrene butadiene rubber (SSBR) production facility.

The eastern China facility will have the capacity to produce 60 kiltonnes per annum of SSBR, said Rongsheng Petrochemical in a stock exchange filing 17 Feb.

The project, it said, will support the production of green tires providing rubber with “comprehensive properties, high wear resistance, low heat generation, and excellent wet skid resistance.”

The new capacity, Rongsheng Petrochemical added, will help improve the domestic supply of high-performance rubber and provide supply security for local tire makers.
