Third acquisition in less than six months to enable offering “complete solutions throughout Sweden”
Stockholm, Sweden – Continental AG has acquired a third conveyor belting specialist in Sweden in less than six months, a move that is aimed at consolidating the German manufacturer’s industrial position in Sweden's mining regions.
The German group has agreed to buy Växjö-based Backes Transportbandservice AB from founder Jan Backes, said Conti in a 2 Dec statement.
The to-be-acquired company, it added, is “a leading service provider for the material handling industry in the southeast of Sweden.”
The acquisition follows Conti’s two other conveyor belt service purchase in Sweden earlier this year, namely the takeover of Vulk & Montage in September and NorrVulk AB, in Gällivare, northern Sweden in July.
"Together with Backes Transportbandservice AB, we will soon be able to offer customers from southeastern Sweden a complete service and solution package in addition to the current Continental product portfolio,” said Conti in a 2 Dec statement.
The “strong service presence”, said Continental, will extend the group’s offerings beyond individual services or belts to “complete solutions throughout Sweden” in the future.
Founded in 2008 in Växjö, Backes Transportbandservice AB supplies a range of products including belts, belt scrapers, industrial hoses, screens, wear rubber, air springs, drive belts and vibration control products to local industries.
