Service will include Irganox light stabilising additives, which can be used in rubber applications
Ludwigshafen, Germany – BASF has started offering ‘product carbon footprints’ (PCFs) for a number of its polymer antioxidants and light stabilisers to support its customers through their journey for sustainability.
The service is part of the German group’s premium sustainability-focused Valeras polymer additives portfolio which was launched last year.
The first products for which PCFs are provided include light stabilising additives Irganox, which can be used in rubber applications, as well as Tinuvin and Chimassorb additives; part of the Valeras portfolio.
In a statement 7 Sept, BASF said the move will improve CO2 transparency in the value chain, supporting customers in reaching their greenhouse gas emission reduction targets.
The cradle-to-gate PCFs, BASF said, will be determined through a proprietary digital solution and validated calculations.
The carbon footprint data will be available through a new online customer portal named myPlasticAdditives, which BASF said is “a convenient and easy-to-use digital solution”.
