Waste tire pyrolysis company scaling up to support demand from partners such as BASF, Conti, Schwalbe
Dillingen, Germany – Pyrum Innovations AG has begun expanding the production capacity of the waste tire pyrolysis plant at its headquarters in Dillingen, the company has announced.
The facility, which has been operational since May 2020, currently has one production line and has processed 7 kilotonnes of end-of-life tires so far, said Pyrum in a 28 Oct statement.
As part of the scaling up project, Pyrum will add two more production lines to triple processing capacity to approximately 20 kilotonnes per annum.
The company said excavation work for the foundations has already begun and ‘key components’ of the plant have been ordered.
"With the groundbreaking for the new production lines, we are fully on track with our growth strategy and are making further progress towards a sustainable circular economy,” said CEO Pascal Klein.
The two new reactors, said Klein, will be supplying to Pyrum’s key partners, including BASF, Continental and Schwalbe.
Pyrum has developed a "100% energy self-sufficient" process to convert rubber granulate from end-of-life tires into pyrolysis oil, gas, and recovered carbon black (rCB).
The recovered materials are used by Pyrum's customers as feedstock in the manufacture of new products such as tires and polymers.
