Clermont-Ferrand, France --Addressing a worldwide shortage of off-the-road tyres, Group Michelin plans to increase production capacity of earthmover tyres at its plants in Vitoria, Spain and Lexington, South Carolina.
Michelin did not disclose any details of the expansions, which it is undertaking to address what it calls "unprecedented growth of the surface mining industry."
The boost in capacity will complete measures the tyre maker took in 2003 and 2004 to expand capacity, Michelin said, and will protect its market position.
