Contract employee dies at Goodyear's Lawton plant
Lawton, Oklahoma--A contract employee died April 10 after he was found caught in a piece of equipment at Goodyear´s Lawton plant, the Akron-based tyre maker said.
The man, who was not identified by Goodyear, was an employee of Direct Staffing Solutions, a firm that provides contract labour to the tyre plant. Plant Manager Kelly Owen said in a statement that the man was found Sunday night and transported to a local hospital where he died.
Goodyear and the contract firm are investigating the cause of the accident, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been notified, the company said. "Our thoughts and prayers today are with his family during this very difficult time," Owen said. "Our priorities are comforting the family, friends and plant team members who have been impacted by this tragic event. We also want to clearly understand what happened."
